JCK Symposium
International Symposium on High-Tech Fiber Engineering for Young Researchers

Greetings from the JCK Symposium Founder
Distinguished Professor, Ick Soo KIM, Dr.Eng.
Vice President of Shinshu University
Director of the Institute for Fiber Engineering(IFES),
National University Corporation Shinshu University

Hello, dear professors and researchers. I’m Ick Soo Kim from Shinshu Univesity, an organising committee of this symposium. First of all, thank you for your interest in the JCK Symposium.
The JCK is a combination of three words (J C K) designating the respective countries of Japan, China, and Korea. The JCK Symposium was started 18 years ago in 2007 at Chonbuk National University, Korea in cooperation with Shinshu University, Japan. The second symposium was held at Shinshu University. In the third symposium, Prof. Ke-qin Zhang from Soochow University, China and Prof. Bin Ding from DongHua University, China were also invited. Since then, many professors from many universities have joined us. We have organised the JCK Symposium 15 times in Japan, China, and Korea.
When I first organised this symposium, there were many seminars and symposia for professors, principal investigators, and senior research scientists, but there were few symposia dedicated and centred on students.
So, I decided to create this symposium to give students more opportunities to share their research with each other. Therefore, this symposium is a meeting for young scientists and graduate students, to give them an opportunity for academic exchange.
I have always dreamed of China, Japan, and Korea being connected by fiber engineering technology, and I hope to eventually expand the fiber engineering network all the way to Europe and the whole world.
Thank you for your cooperation and looking forward to meeting you in the next JCK symposium.
